During the last few years 3M invested significant resources into initiatives focused on connecting non-B2B customers to its products and solutions. The idea was to grow the end-user business including a direct to consumer sales model, in addition to the well-established distributor sales model. This initiative, dubbed “Product Findability”, consistent of building out several new experiences, including a customer portal also known as “My Account.” The intent of this experience was to provide users with quick access to various account management functions.

My job as the lead UX Architect on this initiative was to collect and prioritize user tasks; prepare user flows, prototypes and final designs for the entire experience. The project was so successful, and the final product so well received that a decision was made to replicate the experience to the B2B customer base.
